God Forms and Fills

Table Talk
Josh Blount
Josh Blount

What if the empty places in your life are an invitation for God to fill you with His presence? From creation to the upper room, Scripture reveals a God who shapes His people and fills them for His purposes. Discover how your obedience, generosity, and willingness to make room can help you grow as a disciple and carry His love into your city.

Answer the Call 2027

God forms and fills.

  • Over this past year, we’ve seen 70 people give their lives to Jesus.

  • We’ve celebrated 40 water baptisms.

  • Eighty-two people answered the call to go on mission trips with us,

  • and our church spent 4,500 hours serving our city.

  • Also, this is so awesome, there are currently 224 people participating in 1 on 1 disciples through the Timothy Pathway…

Vision: Help People Know God

Mission: Practicing The Way Of Jesus.

God Forms and Fills

Genesis 1:1–2

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

God forms and fills.

Genesis 1:28

Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…

In Exodus 40, the people give the tabernacle its form according to God’s instructions and God fills it with His glory.

In 2 Chronicles 5, the people build the temple and dedicate it to the Lord… and God fills the house with His glory.

In 2 Kings 4, the widow collects empty jars according to the Lord’s direction through Elisha… and God fills every available vessel with oil.

And in Acts, the disciples gather in the upper room in obedience to Jesus and God fills them with His Spirit and empowers them for His mission.

God formed us for a relationship with Him and to be filled with the life that comes only through Him. And without God, we are “without form and empty.”

New Song Junior High

“We should at least think of the potential of the young people around us to the degree that the Bible respects them.” —Keithen Schwahn

1 Timothy 4:12

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Acts 2:17

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions…

We believe young people can know God, hear His voice, love His Word, encounter His presence, serve His church, live on mission, and become wholehearted disciples of Jesus right now.

Psalm 81:10

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

Answer the Call 2027 || God Forms and Fills || Genesis 1:1-2 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”

  1. The message celebrated the ways God has been moving through New Song, from salvations and baptisms to discipleship, missions, and serving our city.

Why is it important to remember and celebrate what God has already done? How does reflecting on His faithfulness strengthen your trust in what He wants to do next?

  2. Throughout Scripture, we see God inviting His people to prepare and make room for what He desires to fill, whether through the tabernacle, empty vessels, or the disciples gathered in the upper room.

Where might God be inviting you to make room for more of His presence and purposes in your life? What could that look like practically?

  3. The message emphasized that young people don't have to wait until adulthood to know God, hear His voice, encounter His presence, and live as disciples of Jesus.

How does recognizing the spiritual potential of the next generation challenge the way we invest in them today? What role could God be inviting you to play in helping them know Him?

  4. Romans 12:1 calls us to offer our lives as living sacrifices, and 2 Corinthians 9 reminds us that God provides what we need to abound in every good work.

How does viewing generosity as worship change the way you approach giving your time, talents, and resources? Where might God be inviting you to trust Him and participate in what He is building?
