Jesus is Alive...So...

Do you love me? How do we respond to this tender question posed by the perfect son of God, the man of sorrows, the son of suffering, the God who wept, and bled, and in his great love reached for us when we were dead in sin and unlovable? Join us as we explore this question Jesus asked Peter three times in their last recorded conversation in the gospels.

Matthew 28:2
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

Matthew 28:5
“Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. 7 And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead.

#1 Jesus is alive… So… this isn’t it!

If this is all there is to life, then it's like being trapped in a never-ending cycle of disappointment.
Ernest Hemingway

1 Corinthians 15:13
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.

1 Corinthians 15:19
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

The resurrection of Jesus was never just about the resurrection of Jesus; it’s about our resurrection, too!

The resurrection Of Jesus is not just a historical event we look back on; it’s a life-changing reality we can step into that carries the promise of our future hope – a hope of eternal life with God.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

#2 Jesus is alive! So… new life starts now!

The good news Gospel message of Jesus, the message of the cross, and the message of the resurrection is not just a someday message—it's a today's message.

Today is the day of salvation!

2 Corinthians 6:1
As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

There is a future hope that we find in eternal life through Jesus, but there is also present help that we find in Jesus for our on-earth present day circumstances.

Jesus didn't just come to save us from something, He also came to bring us into something

The Christian life is not about waiting for heaven but about living in the reality of heaven on earth. Through Jesus, we are called to bring glimpses of God's kingdom into every corner of our lives and communities.
Dallas Willard

#3 Jesus is alive… so… resurrection is available!

To have the resurrection; You have to be willing to die.

The empty tomb came after a blood-soaked cross.

Matthew 16:24
If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

The great paradox of Christian spirituality is that it's in dying that we live, it's in losing our (false) self that we discover our (true) self, and it's in giving up our desires that our deepest desires are finally sated.
John Mark Comer

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.
Jim Elliot
