Settle = to settle an argument in a court of law determining what is right.

Jesus has the right to cast the first stone, but He doesn’t throw punishment at her; instead of throwing judgment at her, Jesus throws mercy, grace, and acceptance at her.
The ability of Jesus to say 'Neither do I condemn you' stems from His role as the just judge who, in His divine plan, would put Himself on the hook. He willingly bore the consequences of our sins on the cross, allowing us to experience His unmatched grace."
