Mark 13:32-36 NKJV
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

The LAST DAYS

  1. The Last Days Begin On the Day of Pentecost and Conclude When Jesus Returns
  2. The Last Days Grow More Intense As The Return of Christ Draws Closer
  3. Jesus’ Greatest Concern For His Followers Was Not External Events, but Internal Preparation
  • A. ONE COMMAND- “STAY AWAKE!”
  • B. Jesus says it 4 times in 5 verses
  • C. Greatest threat in the Last Days is “SPIRITUAL SLUMBER”

Circadian Rhythms - “Physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a cycle, responding primarily to light and darkness in a persons direct environment” — “controlled by nerve clustered just about the optic nerves behind the eyes.”

STAYING AWAKE IN THE LAST DAYS

1. Don’t Relax

A. “Compromise is a bacteria that breeds in comfort”
B. There’s a difference between “resting in God” and “relaxing in this world”

2 Peter 2:7-8 NKJV and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)

2. Stay In the Light

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin”

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

3. Keep Your Focus

Romans 13:11-14 “Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. the night is far gone and the day is at hand. so then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on he Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

4. Stay Fueled

Matthew 25:1-13 The Parable of the Ten Virgins

A. There is no “second hand anointing of the Holy Spirit. You must go and pursue it yourself.”

5. Never Travel Alone

Hebrews 10:25 NKJV not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

6. Don’t Lay Down (keep moving)

A. STAND! “when you’ve done all to stand, STAND!”

Ephesians 6:10-19
