CELEBRATE

Don’t Forget: Tonight the ministry happens around your table!

Begin: Gather your family, put away technology/devices, prepare some communion elements (crackers and grape or cranberry juice), and grab your Bibles.

Read it:

Acts 2:42-44 (MSG) They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers. Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common.

Do it:

Have a special dinner together as a family. Turn off the devices, light some candles, make your favorite dish, and take communion together after dinner.

Luke 22:14-20 And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

During dinner have each member of your family practice the daily examination.

Daily Examen

  1. When did I see, hear, or feel God’s presence today?

  2. When did I miss God, disobey him, or forget about him?

  3. What is God leading me to do differently tomorrow?

After dinner, make some kind of dessert or treat together and share it with your neighbors. You can get creative by packing it with a scripture or inviting them to church this weekend.

Pray it:

Father, thank you for giving us the greatest gift we could ever receive, Jesus. We have everything we need when we are connected to you. May this not just be a single week that we seek you diligently, but may this become a new normal for our family. We want to know you more and look more like you every day. Help us, Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
